Mercedes Spinout Athos Closes Its Doors
By Sally Ward-Foxton, EE Times | September 2, 2026

Automotive functional safety chiplet startup Athos Silicon has closed its doors.
Former Athos CEO Charnjiv Bangar told EE Times that Athos has ceased operations after its board made the decision to wind down and dissolve the company.
“Despite extensive efforts, we were unable to secure the financing required to continue the productization and commercialization of our technology,” Bangar said. “This was not a decision we made lightly. The technology was consistently well received by the technical community and prospective partners with whom we engaged. Ultimately, the challenge was financial and cap-table related rather than technical, and the board made its decision on the company’s financing position.”
