Graph Programmable Chiplet Micro-Datacenters

By Paul Borrill, Chief Product Officer, Daedaelus

Chiplets let us package a server in a tiny module. Modular servers can deliver data centers full of computers at much lower cost and finer granularity than today's OEM servers. An obvious problem is that the server still needs a big, power-hungry Ethernet connection with an expensive cable and switch port. A simple solution is to replace the switch-based network with a mesh network that connects only immediate neighbors. Each connection is just a few centimeters long from module to module and consumes far less power per connection. Chiplets enable that module and the short server to server only connection. The mesh network is cheaper, faster, and more robust than a switched network. Welcome to a new chapter in the age of networking, thanks to chiplets!
